Two of the infamous “squad” members, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, just had their world-tour travel plans drastically changed. They will not be allowed to visit Palestinians, and incite them into economic boycotts against Israel, after all.
The move comes as an apparent response to a tweet made by President Donald Trump, adding his opinion to the discussion they were already having. Israelis have been taking a hard look at the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions scheme the Muslim duo has been promoting. When they did, they were shocked. They call the proposed legislation, a “weapon” and they aren’t about to let economic terrorists into their country.
Trump tweeted that allowing the visit would show great weakness. “It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!”
Apparently, the Israeli government agreed. “The decision has been made, the decision is not to allow them to enter,” Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely stated Thursday. Israel “won’t allow those who deny our right to exist in this world to enter Israel. In principle this is a very justified decision,” Hotovely added.
The U.S. envoy to Israel totally backs their decision. In a statement following the announcement on Thursday, Ambassador David Friedman writes, “Israel has every right to protect its borders against promoters of boycotts in the same manner as it would bar entrants with more conventional weapons.” The BDS proposal, he agrees, “is no less than economic warfare designed to delegitimize and ultimately destroy the Jewish State.”
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also made a statement, backing up the decision and emphasizing that the two Muslim women were intent on harming Israel. “There is no country in the world that respects the U.S. and the American Congress more than Israel. However, the itinerary showed that the congresswomen’s sole intention was to harm Israel.”

Netanyahu did recognize that Tlaib has relatives living in the West Bank and that he would consider allowing her to visit them, “as long as she promised not to promote a boycott against Israel.”
When they took a hard look at the schedule planned for the two trouble-making Democrats, “it became clear that they are planning a trip whose sole purpose was strengthening the boycott and negating the legitimacy of Israel.”
