Authorities Thursday an investigation into an “active shooter” situation in downtown Cincinnati is taking place by authorities. Several people reported hearing shots fired.
The incident that began just before 9:30 a.m.is being described as an “active shooter/officer involved shooting incident.” It was reported that the situation is occurring at the Fifth Third Bank building at Walnut Street on Fountain Square.
Very few details are being disclosed by authorities but the surrounding area was closed due to the investigation. The building is the corporate headquarters of the Fifth Third Bank.
Videos and photos were taken from witnesses. They showed multiple patrol cars at the scene. One photo showed a bloodied man being taken away on a stretcher.
Local reports have indicated that multiple people were shot. An officer at the scene said that there are at least two, and possibly more, people who have been shot. It is not clear if the shooter was one of them.
The number of casualties have not been confirmed by officials.
