by Jeffrey M. Gresio:
America – The Land of the free and the home of the brave. Those aren’t just words or some creed made up out of whole cloth. They are words that men and women have forged out of their blood, sweat, tears and sacrifice again and again.
Behind all the reckless turmoil and backbiting politics, currently going on in this country, there are decent, loving, hardworking people who believe in this country. They love this land with all their heart. They appreciate what America stands for and all America has afforded them, and allowed them to do and accomplish.
America the Beautiful, built on the idea that if a man or woman were given freedom and a chance, unhindered by government, to pursue their ideas and dreams that they could achieve anything that they are willing to work and sacrifice to have and accomplish.
Our forefathers believed in a world where a person with fortitude and determination could be what or who they wanted to be unencumbered by government restraints, regulations and interference.
They believed that no person should be denied opportunity because of class, social status, race, sex, or religion. They believed that it was governments job to protect a person’s right to be able to achieve their highest goal.
But nowhere did they see the role of government as an agency to level playing fields, to make everything equal for all people, or make life fair for everyone. Nor should that ever be the role of government.
America is the land of opportunity. It was never meant to be a place of hand outs and a haven for free loaders.
Americans understand that there are people with difficulties. That some people have more barriers and struggles to overcome. Americans have shown themselves time and time again to be compassionate, caring, giving people. Always ready to lend a hand, to give aide, and of themselves es when needed.
Charity should be left to the people. It should not be an institutional government run welfare system. Americans have proven themselves most capable of tending to the needs of the less fortunate; more effectively, with less waste than government.
We have always taken care of our own. And rarely, if ever, do we leave any one behind. Where we go one as a nation, we go all as a nation. For united we stand; all for one; one for all.
Americans are resilient, remarkable, achievers. When often given the chance, we exceed expectations of all who doubt. When given a challenge, we always rise to meet the occasion. We are a tenacious people when need be.
Take time this long Independence Day weekend to contemplate all that was involved in the creation of this nation. Remember all those who sacrificed and gave all. Remember there are those who are currently sacrificing still. Standing at the ready, always vigilant to keep you safe and free.
This country, this land of ours, was truly God given. It is a land of promise. From the deep green and blue coast of the Atlantic to the warm, frigid and sunny coasts of California, Alaska and Hawaii, America is beautiful. From the frosty top of Mt. Denali, to the desert floor of Death Valley, America is glorious. From the glistening glades, across the gulf, and to the shining Great Lake waters, America is splendid. From the tip of Maine, across the flowing plains to Baja’s sands and border; America is grand.
America is beautiful. Beautiful in its grandeur, beautiful in its majesty, beautiful in its people. America’s people are truly the nation’s life blood. From the laborer and farmer, to the fry cook and chief bottle washer; from mechanics and technicians, to the tellers and night clerks; from the janitors and businessmen, to the linemen and IT guys; from the firemen and policemen, to the nurses and every caregiver; from the bosses and the managers, to the truckers and delivery men; you all make this country what it is. And I for one salute you.
We are a nation of faces and personalities that come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. We all, who were born on its soil, are its native sons and daughters, sisters and brothers. Regardless of your nationality, we all have one heritage; a heritage of freedom and Liberty!
To all you truly remarkable Americans out there today, listening to music and reading a book on the sand or by the pool; flinging horse shoes or tossing bocce balls; flipping meat on the grill; doing cannon balls off the dock or diving board; playing a pick-up game of baseball or simply playing catch; sharing time with family, or hanging out with friends; watching local parades and lighting off some fireworks; a blessed Independence Day I pray to you all.
And to all those that are working, thank you and God bless you; may He always keep you; and may you be His.
Here is to Making and Keeping America Great and Free!
From all of us at Trump Times, to all of you, Happy 4th of July!
