Six female Democratic senators called for Al Franken to resign. A sixth woman accused him of unwanted advances and that inspired the senators.
Wednesday, Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Kamala Harris, Maggie Hassan, Mazie Hirono, Claire McCaskill and Patty Murray called for Franken to step aside. More may join them but it is these senators requesting Franken’s resignation at this time.
Senator Al Franken (D-Minn.) had held a press conference on Monday to address sexual misconduct allegations that have been brought against him by quite a few women.
Franken insisted he’s let a lot of people down, including the people of Minnesota, his colleagues, his staff and his supporters.
Franken said, “To all of you, I just want to again say I am sorry.”
He told reporters that it will take a long time to regain the trust he had built up, and he’s ready to start that process by returning to work on Capitol Hill.
I don’t think that Al Franken realizes that the trust is gone and not likely to come back. Being ‘sorry’ doesn’t fit the allegations.
I’m hoping he goes away and falls into oblivion.
