After Obama cut 28 years off of leaker Chelsea Manning prison sentence, she wrote a remark in a column about the former president.
The transgender woman was the former Bradley Manning when arrested.
She now writes, “Unfortunately, despite (Obama’s) faith in our system and his positive track record on many issues over the last eight years, there have been very few permanent accomplishments. Obama’s detractors have criticized the former president for being “too weak, or too soft or too sympathetic. The one simple lesson to draw from President Obama’s legacy: do not start off with a compromise.”
President Trump Tweeted: Ungrateful TRAITOR Chelsea Manning, who should never have been released from prison, is now calling President Obama a weak leader. Terrible!
Next, Manning to take a blow at hypothetical things Trump could do as president wrote, “People will probably be targeted because of their religion. Queer and trans people expect to have their rights infringed upon. Our lives are at risk especially for immigrants, Muslim people and black people.”
Sean Spicer, the now White House press secretary, at the time said that the then president-elect was troubled over Obama’s decision and called it disappointing and that it sends a troubling message when it comes to the handling of classified information.
